Additions, disappearances, problems
First off, hello, long time no talk. Sorry for not keeping up with my plan to post at least once a week, but I’ve been busy with that stuff that starts with “home” and coincidentally rhymes with the fitting word “irk.” I managed to get some time on the website during the long weekend, so here I am, with some good news and arising problems.
Before I get to the bad news I’ve added quite a few new features. I created a new photo gallery called “Randomness and Boredom,” which I plan to use as a showcase for all the random photos I’ve taken.
I also added a poll system in the sidebar, which looks pretty ugly right now in my opinion. I have yet to get it to fit the colors of the rest of the website and get it aligned. Noticing this I recalled I had to spend half an hour getting the login box at the bottom to fit the design. Frustration convinced me to take out some key features of the widget just to get it to look “perfect.” That added to the clutter of my already unorganized CSS file and also created some problems for the people who used it. This is what got me worried about having to edit the poll area, because it would add even more clutter. To cap it off, the login box completely disappeared when I had a problem updating Wordpress the other day.
So I still have quite a bit of work to do on the Wordpress theme I built:
- Clean up the markup
- Organize the CSS better
- Fix the problems in the sidebar that are forcing me to take drastic measures when adding key elements like polls
- Find the login box plugin, reinstall it, and be more careful when styling it
- Create some formatting options I can use when writing tutorials (e.g. floating individual images without using inline CSS)
On a higher and randomly placed note, happy Valentine’s Day and check out Nigahiga’s hilarious new video!
